Happy holidays! It's time to get some gift ideas for the runners in your life or to get some goodies, maybe?! I usually work with a 2:1 ratio, for every two gifts for my favorite runner, there has to be one for me, right?!
I'm not a big fan of putting together gift guides, which is why it's always last minute. But after blogging for over 12 years, I realized it was time to share my thoughts on the best gifts for all the contestants. I've tried so many great products over the years and have my own wish list which is what I used to create this gift list.
I've categorized my best gift ideas by the type of runner friend you're shopping for. So, here's what you'll find in this gift guide for runners:
Gift ideas for:
- New runner
- Road runner
- Walking addict
- Trail runner
- Running passengers
All options make the best ongoing gifts from small items upwards, but the majority (like 99%) are under £150.
Gifts for new runners
If you're new to running and the active lifestyle, the perfect gift will likely be something very practical. As much as everyone says “Running” is free.We all know that's not true. But a decent pair of sneakers, a sports bra, and recovery gear are the most practical gifts in my opinion.
Tips for new runners on the blog:

The Garmin Forerunner 55 from Garmin is a great entry-level sports watch.

Bobaddy

Cost: £1
Now, I've known about Boobuddy (formerly Booband) for years but always thought it wasn't for me.

Gifts for the road runner
I feel like the Road Runner would be the broader category. I think marathon runners dip their toes into multiple sports (duathlon or… Triathlon), improving times and building over longer periods. I haven't included clothing here, nor gear for the winter months but you can check out my tips via the link below.
Tips for running outdoors on the blog:
Fenix 7S Solar

Cost: £££
We've exhausted the budget for this watch, but a more advanced GPS smartwatch needs to be mentioned. I bought the Fenix 6s Solar in 2022 (before this model came out) and love it.
It's a new level of freedom as you can follow your running routes from your watch in addition to all the other features.

Very useful for keeping your phone handy, safe and stable.
Gifts for the treadmill addict
I don't judge anyone for skipping their outdoor winter run in favor of the treadmill. If I had the space, I would 100% get one; I have a walking pad though.
Running on a treadmill can also be very beneficial over long distances to save time planning routes, avoid bad weather, and take advantage of a gym membership where you can do other things in the same session.
Everything you need to know about recovery:
Red light device

Cost: £$$$
After trying a Red light device for my face After reading about the benefits of recovery, I upgraded to this laptop for post-boot use.
Small enough for travel, this device from Bon Charge supports your recovery and will help you sleep better.
This is a little over budget but worth the splurge.
Human Resources Monitor

Cost: £1
If you're not a fan of using a running watch or you train using a heart rate monitor, a standalone heart rate monitor is a great option.

I got this from Bob and Brad, which has the perfect heat and cold settings for post-run recovery.
Gifts for trail runner
I'm pretty much a newbie to the trails, but I still love getting all the gear and looking the part. I also love the fact that trail running is as much about snacking/food as it is about “running.” So having plenty of space to store said snacks for a long day on the trails is essential; Read on.
